To get you familiar with Lifelines and our philosophy relating to rescue and sanctuary.
We strive to provide a safe environment for animals that have endured starvation, neglect, and/or physical abuse. Each animal receives medical attention and daily human contact. We help to rehabilitate each animal in the hopes that we can locate responsible, caring, and loving homes. For those animals unable to be adopted they will live out the remainder of their lives here at the farm in our sanctuary.
Our goal is to give each animal the opportunity at a second chance at life. We also seek to educate the public on proper care and feeding of horses. It is our hope that through our educational programs people will learn to recognize signs of abuse and neglect and where to report such issues.
It is my personal belief that not all horses need a job to be happy and loved. Sometimes their beauty and grace must be experienced in person for the general public to begin to understand why these horses deserve a second chance at a normal life. Even simple programs such as "petting and grooming day" have a major impact on people with little or no horse experience. It helps to bridge the gap between the two species and show that we are not that different from one another.
While I am overjoyed when a horse finds a new home, we simply don't rush the process. We believe in complete rehabilitation here at the farm and strive for each horse to be whole prior to going to their forever homes. Each horse is adopted with our lifetime contract, which sometimes takes just a bit longer for adopters to agree to sign. Rest assured each horse is going to a "matched" home. Even before a horse reaches our farm they are already loved. The FOB group has given so much more than just financial help, thay have also given love and hope to these horses. For this we are truly grateful.
Humane Euthanasia will ONLY be given if attending vet says we have exhausted ALL other options and animal will not recover. Even then consideration is given to age, general health, and general will to live of each individual animal. No stone is left unturned and NO animal shall be left suffering. I will personally be present whispering sweet words and giving comfort as the animals passes. NO animal is put down on a whim, for financial reasons or lack of space, or because they may have possible emotional issues.
A simple promise can make a difference:
A promise to keep them safe from harm...
